ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS
With education as the cornerstone of the Oregon Association of Process Servers, OAPS has established the only platform in the process service industry nationwide where a process server can go online and attend seminars on a variety of specific subjects. For every legal document, one or more methods of service exist to achieve adequate notice under the law. These online seminars, available
only
to OAPS members, cover the various laws and their practical application. Each certificate requires the successful answering of a series of questions that are designed to ensure that the each seminar was viewed in its entirety. While production of these online seminars are ongoing, the ultimate goal is to certify all OAPS members with a credential reflecting Certified Professional Process Server. Currently, only
Summons
and
Evictions
are available to OAPS members online. The
Advanced Summons
was presented live and only available to OAPS members at the 2106 OAPS Annual Meeting. If a member's listing reflects any of these three certifications, this means that this OAPS member has completed the video seminar on the subject and have successfully answered the series of questions that followed.
What is covered in the videos?
SUMMONS
Covers the four primary service methods of a summons available in Oregon and how they are interpreted in a variety of Oregon Supreme Court cases, as well as by the Oregon Court of Appeals where such issues have not been appealed to Oregon's highest court.
ADVANCED SUMMONS
Covers advanced concepts dealing with the reasonable notice standard in Oregon and what constitutes adequate service of a summons in Oregon. Primary and alternative service methods are reviewed. Note: This subject was only available to OAPS members at the 2016 OAPS Annual Meeting and was presented live.
EVICTIONS
OAPS members having this certification exist in their membership listing have demonstrated that they viewed this course seminar in its entirety, which deals with how to properly serve and/or post Oregon eviction notices and have successfully answered the series of questions that followed.
TRUSTEE'S NOTICE OF SALE
OAPS members having this certification exist in their membership listing have demonstrated that they have viewed the course seminar in its entirety, which deals with how to properly serve a Trustee's Notice of Sale and have successfully answered the series of questions that followed.
